Costa Rican pride! Rhythmic gymnastics managed to qualify for the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023

After finishing in the top 10 at the 2022, Pan American Championship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Costa Rican rhythmic gymnastics athletes got their ticket to participate in the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The president of the Gymnastics and Allied Sports Federation of Costa Rica, Lorena Villareal Guadamuz, commented that she is proud of the results obtained.

“We attained our goal of qualifying for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023. The satisfaction is double! The competing team consists of new girls who, for the first time, have competed on big stages next to Americas stand outs (the United States, Brazil, and Mexico). You couldn't ask for more; they met expectations and will bring the classification home” said Villareal.

The national team was directed by Natalia Brenes, Karina Calderón and Melissa Brenes. The group of athletes was made up of: Leonela Solano, Mariangel Coto, Camila Vasquez, Estefania Casanova, Maria Paula Castro and Galilea Salazar.

Furthermore, one more Tica, Emma Benavides, achieved her qualification for the Central American Games in the 'senior individual' category. She achieved this goal in the capital of El Salvador at the beginning of July.

And in the 'youth individual' category, Gloriana Sánchez swept everything away and finished tenth on the continent.
