Costa Rican athlete Gabriela Soto wins gold medal in Mexico's most demanding mountain ultramarathon
Pride! Costa Rican mountain ultramarathon runner Gabriela Soto took the gold medal in the renowned international race "Sky Ultra Pico 2022" , the most demanding race in Mexico.
This event took place on Mexico's highest mountain, Pico de Orizaba.
The Costa Rican runner covered around 106 kilometers in rocky and uneven terrain, yet she recorded an impressive time of almost 23 hours during the 4 days of competition.
On her social media, Soto expressed her happiness and pride at having finished first in the women's category and second overall.
"This race has been one of the best of my sporting life. Because I went out to live it to the fullest, leaving aside ego and the need to prove myself to others, but rather to learn to trust and believe in myself," Soto wrote.
