"Cali Muñoz" will be present at the first date of the World Surfing Tour in Hawaii 2023
As confirmed by the World Surf League (WSL ), the renowned Costa Rican surfer Carlos "Cali" Muñoz, will be present at the Billabong Pro Pipeline, the first stop on the highly anticipated World Tour 2023.
The news came after Moroccan athlete Ramzi Boukhia suffered an injury in recent days, which led to the Costa Rican receiving his call-up.
In December, the native of Jacó was chosen as a wildcard to be the first replacement during the season (which means to cover the absence of any qualified surfer).
Cali has been in Hawaii since last week hoping to get this great opportunity for his sports career; likewise, he has been focused and preparing for this opportunity.
This 2023 will be the surfer's second consecutive year at this great event and he and athlete Brisa Hennessy will carry the country's name high.
The tournament window ends this coming Friday, February 10th. Muñoz will face renowned American Kelly Slater and Brazilian Caio Ibelli.
The top ten men and top eight women in the rankings at the end of the season will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
