CrossFit Games announces new changes for 2023
If you love this sport and are planning to do the 2023 Open, this information will be very useful to you, because the CrossFit Games announced new changes for next year.

One of the most important changes is that the games will have a new six-day format, taking place from August 1st to 6th. The number of athletes in the final phase will remain the same as in 2022, and the Last Chance Qualifier will be eliminated.
CrossFit will schedule all events for individual athletes and teams, therefore all athletes and teams will perform the same events.
Furthermore, the number of semifinals in North America and Europe has been significantly reduced. Previous years saw four events in North America and two in Europe; now there will be two and one, respectively.
Instead of ten semi-finals, there will now be seven. The semi-finals would be as follows:

CrossFit Open 2023:
- It will be contested over three weeks, from February 16 to March 6 , 2023.
- Athletes must complete the test at an affiliated facility or submit their videos. A registered CrossFit judge is no longer the sole valid method for validating scores.
- Athletes with disabilities will be able to perform CrossFit Open workouts scaled to their abilities and make modifications accordingly. In addition, there will be new eligibility requirements for them.
- The list of six people who make up the teams (four starters and two substitutes) will be selected immediately after the Open. Only these athletes will be eligible to compete from the quarterfinals through the final stage, without changes.
- 10% of individual athletes and 25% of teams will advance.
Quarterfinals
- Dates to be determined.
- The teams and age groups will do it during the same week.
- The teams will compete from Wednesday to Friday and the masters and teens athletes from Friday to Sunday.
- The individual quarter-finals will be a three-day competition, similar to the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
- Athletes can compete in any quarter-final competition and in as many events as they have qualified for (important for those who want to choose between individual and team competitions).
Semifinals
- Dates to be determined.
- There will be 7 semi-final events instead of the 10 of previous years.
- North America will have two Semifinals (East and West) and Europe will only have one.
- All Semifinals will be run by CrossFit in North America and Europe.
- CrossFit will schedule all semifinal events.
- CrossFit will partner with four semifinal event organizers in the regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, and South America.
- Athletes will qualify for their respective semifinals based on their region. This will be known after the Open.
- The 60 best individual men and women, and the 38 best teams, will compete in the North American East and West semifinals, and the European semifinal.
- The top 30 individual men and women, and the top 20 teams, will compete in the Semifinals from Africa, Asia, Australia and South America.
- The 'Last Chance Qualifier' has been eliminated. This final opportunity will now be determined by "a ranking system based on performance within the competition itself."
CrossFit Sports CEO Justin Bergh noted that more details and updates will be revealed soon.
