CrossFit Games allowed Russian athlete Roman Khrennikov to compete in the 2023 Open in the United States

It's official! The CrossFit organization has allowed renowned Russian athlete Roman Khrennikov to participate in the 2023 Open qualifier in the Northwest United States.

According to information provided by the media outlet "The Morning Chalk Up", Roman is one of the first two athletes to receive "a competition region exception" for the 2023 season.

Khrennikov faced considerable difficulties in becoming a CrossFit Games athlete. Although he qualified for the Games in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, he was unable to attend any of them because he lacked a U.S. visa.

However, in February of last year, she managed to obtain it and participate in this great competition, also becoming "Second Fittest On Earth 2022".

The other athlete who was allowed this exception at the 2023 Open was Portuguese Antonio Barrias, who owns and coaches @crossfitxvi in ​​Macau, and has been granted the exemption to compete in Asia.

However, in the official CrossFit statement, they clarify that "athletes have until February 1 at 5 p.m. to request an exemption to change their competition region during the season."
