Brisa Hennessy's success: The Costa Rican surfer ranks among the top 5 athletes worldwide
Congratulations! Costa Rican surfer Brissa Hennesy finished her participation in the second stop of the 2023 World Tour at the "Hurley Pro Sunset Beach" competition with an outstanding fifth place.
The tournament took place in Hawaii from February 12 to 23, and the young Australian athlete Molly Picklum was crowned champion after defeating Caroline Marks in the grand final.
Hennessy reached the quarterfinals with a total of 8.40 points and thanks to these results secured a temporary spot in the #6 position of the world ranking.
To qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, you have to stay in the top 8 in the world.
"5th at Sunset. Not the result I wanted, but I'm very motivated for the next one...The ocean gives and takes, and so does this sport. I learned a lot about myself at this event. Fueling the fire for the next one!" Hennessy wrote on his social media.
In the first round of the World Tour, the Costa Rican had finished the Billabong Pro Pipeline among the top five female surfers in the world with a total of 4.70 points.
This is Brisa's fourth year competing in the World Tour, an impressive feat that has opened great doors for her in her career as a professional athlete.
