Don't miss it! Tecuman Invitational 2022 will be the first edition of this new fitness competition in Guatemala, which will take place this coming October 14th and 15th in Ciudad Cayalá.
The founders of this great event are Karla Carrera, María Fernanda Arriaza, José Meneses, and José Fernando García. They tell us that one of the main reasons Tecuman was created was to offer something different from the competitions already held in Guatemala.
"One of the reasons this comes from wanting to bring together the best athletes in the country in the same competition and to be able to experience seeing them all compete on the same stage," Arriaza said.
This will be the first competition in the country that will be completely free for both athletes and spectators, because they want to recognize the athletes' effort in their training and give them exposure to the whole country.

Another factor the organizers are considering is providing athletes and the fitness community with a spectacle that motivates them to keep striving for their goals. The athletes will compete against each other in an atmosphere filled with excitement, adrenaline, gymnastics, strength, endurance, and more.
The workouts for this new competition were created in conjunction with Jumpship training to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible.
One of his biggest wishes for Tecuman is that next year they will be able to expand, have international athletes, and open a couple more categories.
"Next year's selection process will be the same, so we hope that this competition will motivate people to qualify within the top 20 of the 2023 Open, so they can win their spot in Tecuman," Meneses said.
How were the athletes selected? They used the 2022 Open rankings and chose the top 20 male and female athletes from Guatemala. In addition, they opened 5 wild card slots for nationally recognized athletes who have won competitions and are even leaders in their communities.
Some athletes who were invited will be unable to attend due to various circumstances. However, a total of 20 men and 15 women will participate, vying for a place on the podium.
What does Tecuman mean?: The name comes from Tecún Umán , a Mayan warrior in Guatemala and a very important symbol of the conquest of that country. The founders of this event chose this name because they strongly associate it with sports, as the people who compete get up every day to strive to be better, to improve both in their daily lives and in their sport.
Finally, the organizers of this competition share with us that Tecuman has been a great dream for them and is intended to motivate athletes to improve every day, to contribute to the sport and help it grow in all areas.
