Are you just starting out with handstand push-ups? Here are some recommendations for you.

The handstand push-up is a challenging gymnastic movement often included in WODs. It may seem intimidating at first, as it requires confidence in your strength, balance, and body control in an inverted position.

Once you feel more confident and have mastered the fundamentals, the Handstand Push Up becomes an exceptional exercise for:

- Develop impressive upper body strength.

- Strengthen the core.

- Improve agility and coordination.

- Increase power.

But what muscles are worked and benefited by the Handstand Push Up?

During the movement, the deltoids, shoulders, triceps, forearms, trapezius, pectoralis major, and abdominal muscles are primarily activated. Additionally, tension is exerted in the lumbar and cervical regions.

Handstand push-ups are excellent for improving strength, endurance, balance, and power, essential qualities for their correct execution.

Here are 3 progressions to help you master them if you're a beginner:

Handstand Against a Wall: Begin by familiarizing yourself with the position by performing a handstand against a wall. This will help you get used to the inverted feeling and build confidence.

Wall Climbs: This exercise will gradually prepare you to work in the inverted position, as well as adapt your muscles and cardiovascular system to constant pressure.

Box Dips: Use a box to support your knees and work on arm strength. Initially, lower yourself at a slight angle until you reach a fully vertical position.

Push-ups: Start with regular push-ups on the floor and progress to parallel bar or dumbbell push-ups to increase intensity as you gain strength.

Shoulder Press: This exercise strengthens the deltoids, helping to stabilize the shoulders. Perform it with dumbbells or a barbell, lifting the weights in a controlled manner overhead.

Remember to warm up properly before starting.

Rest every few repetitions and allow the blood to circulate properly.

Get ready to challenge your body and reach new levels of strength and dexterity with Handstand Push-Ups!
