GREAT START FOR PABLO LUNA AT THE CROSSFIT GAMES 2023

This Tuesday, August 1st, at 9:00 AM (Costa Rica time), young athlete José Pablo Luna Alpízar began his first CrossFit Games event in the 14-15 year old teens category. In lane 14, the San Carlos native started his snatch with 185 pounds, which he completed very well. On his second attempt, he lifted 205 pounds, and in pursuit of his personal best, Luna attempted 215 pounds, which he was unable to complete. Always under the guidance of his coach, Arturo Pérez, the Costa Rican began the clean and jerk with 225 pounds, then successfully lifted 245 pounds. Luna achieved a total of 450 pounds, earning a second-place finish in his debut event.

In test two, the Costa Rican athlete finished the WOD with a time of 14:27:72, securing fifth place on the leaderboard. For the third event, the athletes performed the "Helen" WOD, which consisted of a 10-minute time trial of a 400-meter run, 21 kettlebell swings, and 12 pull-ups. Luna finished with a time of 9:00:05.

At the end of the first day of competition, José Pablo remains in seventh position.
