Amazing! Carolina Mora becomes the first Costa Rican woman to swim across Lake Arenal

Historic! Experienced swimmer Carolina Mora becomes the first Costa Rican to swim across Lake Arenal .

The 44-year-old athlete began her journey in the Tilarán sector at 1:25 am on Saturday, September 3, and arrived in La Fortuna de San Carlos around noon.

According to records from Kurt Niehaus Swim Academy, Mora swam approximately 28.8 kilometers in more than 11 hours.

At the end of this challenge, Carolina expressed to the media outlet Trivisión her happiness at having fulfilled one of her biggest goals.

"I feel very fortunate, I believe it is a gift that life and God give me (...) It was born as a dream, I say, in the search to raise money for our final goal which is the California Canal, which I swim in three weeks," she expressed.

She also had the support of Náutica Lago Arenal , who accompanied her throughout the entire journey. The athlete has been swimming since she was 8 years old and has specialized in open water swimming throughout her career.

Now Carolina is preparing to cross the Catalina Channel (32.5 kilometers) in California, United States at the end of September.
