For the first time in Costa Rican history: Athletes will participate in the Downhill Skateboarding World Championship

Costa Rican pride! For the first time in the country, Costa Rican athletes will participate in the World Skate Games 2022, in the downhill skateboarding modality , which will take place in the streets of Argentina from November 10 to 12.

The Costa Rican skaters selected were Ángel Ariel Campos Araya, Allan Jordany Vargas Arias, Dylan Solano Fernández, and Óscar Venegas Mejías. However, Solano and Venegas still don't know if they will be able to travel due to a lack of resources, since the athletes will have to cover all their expenses on their own.

No Costa Rican skater had ever competed in this major event. Campos, an aeronautical engineering student, emphasized the importance of his participation in the world championship.

"This event will set a precedent in the history of national skateboarding. It's the first Costa Rican team endorsed by a Federation. Costa Ricans have participated in international competitions before, but none like the World Games," Campos stated.

Similarly, Campos asked for help on his social media to be able to afford this big trip.

"This trip would be financed entirely ourselves, so I'm asking for any kind of help (...) I'm committed to giving my best performance at the World Championships. Having this sponsorship would be a huge help, and it would also provide great visibility and exposure for the company that helps us," Campos explained.
