Want to know what Woodstock 2022 is? We'll explain it here.

Wodstock is one of the most anticipated fitness competitions both nationally and internationally. This year, the fifth edition will take place at the SEK school from August 27th to 28th and will feature 200 athletes in the RX and Intermediate categories. For the first time, 27 women will participate in the RX category.

"We are extremely happy with the support we have received in this edition; having 27 girls in RX is a turnout that we had never achieved before and that had never been seen in a competition at the Central American level," explained David Umaña.

This event started internally at Morpho CrossFit. After this , David Umaña, the creator of the event, along with two friends, decided to take it to a national level. However, they spent approximately a year deciding whether to do it or not, because they could not find a date that did not clash with other competitions.

As Umaña explained to us, it was in August 2018 that they stopped holding a competition they had been doing for several years, and then the possibility opened up for them to take those dates and hold the first national competition.

"At that time we had already held 5 internal competitions at the boxing club and we felt that year after year the event was improving, increasing in complexity, the level of the athletes, etc. etc. So in 2018 we took a risk, to be honest, because we had very little time, we had 4 months to organize it, and that year was our first edition at the SEK school," Umaña explained.

This great event has been held since 2018 , and it is usually held in the months of August, specifically at the end, right after the CrossFit Games.

Even in the midst of the pandemic, in 2020, they made the decision to make it virtual, and that year was the one in which the most athletes participated.

Umaña tells us that for them Wodstock means everything, where in two days they look for the most complete athlete in the region, testing aspects from brute strength to purely cardiorespiratory endurance.

They also like to think they manage a balanced, organized, and challenging competition and structure for participants. It's a platform where athletes can measure themselves against their counterparts in the region, and thanks to years of effort, they have achieved a strong position in the Central American market.

"We feel that we are one of the leading competitions at the Central American level, after 5 years of doing it uninterruptedly."

Finally, they thank the athletes and participants for supporting the competition.
