Costa Rican karateka Sergio Cambronero placed in the top 5 at the 2022 World University Championships
Congratulations! Costa Rican karateka Sergio Cambronero placed #5 at the World University Combat Sports Championship , which took place from September 21st to 30th in Turkey.
Cambronero represented the National University of Costa Rica (UNA) , which supported him throughout his trip to the European country. Following his outstanding performance, the karateka expressed his gratitude to the university, the National Olympic Committee, the Costa Rican Karate Federation, and the Belén Cantonal Sports and Recreation Committee.
"I think it was a great experience. I gave my best to get that bronze medal, unfortunately I didn't achieve it. I lost against the host country, a competitor from here in Turkey. I'm happy and grateful to everyone who supported me, family, friends, a lot of messages supporting me which was incredible," Cambronero highlighted.
The Costa Rican's list of achievements also includes being the Ibero-American kata champion and being on the Costa Rican national team, where he has represented the country internationally on several occasions.
