Tico Sherman Güity is nominated for "Best Para Athlete of the Americas"
Amazing! This past Monday, December 5th, the renowned Costa Rican para-athlete, Sherman Güity, was nominated by the Paralympic Committee of the Americas as one of the eight best para-athletes of 2022.
The Costa Rican is nominated alongside:
- Herbert Aceituno (powerlifting) from El Salvador
- Juan Diego García (taekwondo) from Mexico
- Chuck Aoki (wheelchair rugby) from the United States
- Enrique Plantey (alpine skiing) from Argentina
- Carlos Serrano (swimming) from Colombia
- Jorge Carinao (powerlifting) from Chile
- Gabriel Araujo (swimming) from Brazil
The Committee chose these para-athletes because of their great sporting performance, however, the winner is chosen by the public.
How does it work? On the official Instagram page @paralympicsapc, people will have to comment for their favorite para-athlete.
The three names most mentioned in the comments on the post advance to the grand final. Voting ends on December 9th at 12 pm.
In the case of women, Peruvian Pilar Jáuregui of para-badminton was crowned the best of 2022.
