Costa Rican sprinter José Davis impresses at New York state athletics championship by winning silver medal.

José Davis-Whittaker , a 16-year-old Costa Rican sprinter, won the silver medal in the 55-meter indoor event at the New York State Championship , representing Costa Rica instead of the United States.

The competition took place at the Ocean Breeze athletic complex in New York, and Davis-Whittaker, who is a student at York Early College Academy, recorded a time of 6.42 seconds, which represents her personal best in the 55-meter indoor event.

The standings table ended up as follows:

  1. Jadon Spain (James I. Oniell) - 6.25 seconds
  2. Joseph Whittaker (York Early College) - 6.42 seconds
  3. Mekhi Christensen (Irodequoit) - 6.43 seconds
  4. Alden Chamber (North Babylon) - 6.44 seconds
  5. Nicholas Wright (Horece Greeley) - 6.46 seconds
  6. Jak Faldetta (Eastpot-Sauth Maner) - 6.47 seconds
  7. Daysin Legare (Johnson City) - 6.49 seconds
  8. Marcos Nahim (Iona Preparatory School) - 6.49 seconds

Davis received his sports training in the United States, however, his desire is to compete representing his country, influenced by his mother and grandmother, and to proudly wear the tricolor flag on his chest.
